NEW EDUCATION POLICY : BIG CHANGES IN SCHOOL AND COLLEGE EDUCATION SYSTEM.
![]() |
"Education is the passport to the Future" |
POSITIVE OF NEP
1.Upon the implementation of this policy,a student can study
Political Science with Physics and Chemistry with History.A student
can study Science,Commerce and arts subjects.
2.A Second major change by the government is that they replaced the
existing 10+2 academic structure with 5+3+3+4 system now.Now it is similar to
western developed countries education system.
3.In 10+2 eductaion system study start
at the age of 6 .And Now,education would now start at the age of 3. Pre-school
would be from age 3-6 and then class 1 and 2 for the next 2 years.3 years would
be the preparatory stage in which focus would be upon playing, discovery and
activity based classroom learning.
4.Class 6 to 8 would be classified as
middle age.In which there is focus upon experiential learing which include
science,mathematics,humanities,social sciences,arts.
5.From class 9 to 12 there is a
Secondary Stage which focused on multi disciplinary studies.
NEP FOCUS ON VOCATIONAL STUDIES IN SCHOOL-LEVEL.
1.Now,The government has implemented
some structural changes to change this mindset, which is praiseworthy. For
Example,From Class 6 ,Students would have to do internships in vocational
training jobs.
2.There would be a bagless period of 10 days-where the students
would take no bags to school. On that days,Students will experience jobs like
Carpentry,Welding,Gardening.
3.Coding will be taught to students from Class 6
and the importance accorded to board exams in Class 10 and 12 would be
reduced.
4.Now ,Assessment will be done not only by the teachers, but the
teachers will also self evaluate themselves. Not only will there be self
Evaluation, the rest of students of the class will also evaluate and say how
particular student has performed according to the perspective of the rest of
classmates.Very Useful Step Because Critical thinking is a very important
aspect - to self evaluate oneself by oneself.
5.The Government has decided at
least 6% of the GDP will be spent on education.Right now,it is now 3% which is
insufficient.
6.There was a problem of rote learning in the indian education
system. Now the exams will be designed in such a way that would not require
memorization and rote learning.
AFTER CLASS 12TH CHANGES.
1.Talking about education after Class
12 -there is a multiple entry and Exit Programme.Let's Take an Example - You
take a B.tech degree and after 1 year you don't want to study B.tech then you
can drop-out in the midway and take the credits and transferred it into the
another degree.
2.If you have 4 year Degree.Say You
drop Out after 1st year,Then you will get a Certificate.If you Drop-out in 2nd
year ,Then you get a diploma. After 3rd year you will get Bachelor's Degree .And
After 4th Year you will get Bachelor's Research Degree.
3.If you Already Done a 4 year Degree
in Bachelors,MA and MSc degree would only be of One Year.
4.It is Being Aimed that by 2025,50% of
the learners in School and Higher Educational Institutions would have had
exposure to vocational education.
5.A common National Professional
Standard will be set for all the teachers by 2022.A Minimum BA Qualification is
required to become a teacher by 2030.
NEGATIVES OF NEP.
1.The new Policy has been Criticized
the most on the point of Language. This Policy reads that "Wherever
Possible the medium of instructions till 5th Grade and preferably till Class 8
and beyond will be the home Language, local language and regional
language".This will affect the Movement of Students for Study from One
state to Another.Although, it is written No Language would be Forced.
2.The Government would try to make
sanskrit and other classical language available at every level in schools as an
option.
3.And after Class 9,Foreign Languages
will also be available like they are right now.
4.This Policy is theoretical not
practically implemented in the real life.
